Pinus Contorta latifolia 'Chief Joseph'

Punus_contorta_chief_joseph

To-die-for winter color, Chief Joseph Pine is difficult to propagate and very slow growing, which means it's hard to find and often ridiculously expensive for a tiny specimen. That is of course the siren call for obsessive plant collectors.
A dwarf conical pine with brilliant gold leaves in fall and winter. Full sun. Hardy to zone 5. Grows about 4" per year up to a max height about 8' tall.
